Over the past 20 years, Peter Houlihan has led nearly 100 major scientific expeditions across some of the most remote, biologically rich, and logistically demanding regions on Earth. His work is rooted in years spent living in the field on extended three- to six-month expeditions deep in rainforests and on islands, with consistent long-term operations across 50 countries.

Houlihan’s expertise fuses scientific rigor, operations logistics, technological innovation, policy engagement, and visual storytelling. He has built a career navigating complex team dynamics and environments while advancing research and conservation, partnering with Indigenous and local communities, and managing multidisciplinary teams through strategic field missions. These expeditions have helped describe species new to science, piloted and implemented breakthrough technologies, and established new protected areas.
